Hanwha Group announced on the 20th that it has made some appointments in the executive team and has appointed Vice Chair Yeo Seung-joo of Hanwha Life as the head of Hanwha Group’s management division to assist Chairman Kim Seung-yeon of Hanwha Group. Going forward, Vice Chair Yeo will support the establishment of the group’s future vision and global business.
Vice Chair Yeo is regarded as a financial and strategic expert in the financial sector. Born in 1960, he has held key positions such as head of the Strategic Planning Office at Hanwha Life, head of the Strategic Team in the Management Planning Office at Hanwha Group, CEO of Hanwha Investment & Securities, and head of business at Hanwha Life. After being appointed as CEO of Hanwha Life in 2019, he led the company for seven years and was promoted to vice chair in 2023 due to his business performance. Vice Chair Yeo is also known as a management mentor to Kim Dong-won, the president of Hanwha Life, who is the brother of Vice Chair Kim Dong-kyun.
The new co-CEOs of Hanwha Life are Kwon Hyuk-woong, former vice chair of Hanwha Ocean, and Lee Kyung-geun, CEO of Hanwha Life Financial Service.
Kwon, a Ph.D. graduate from KAIST, is a seasoned executive who has held major positions such as CEO of Hanwha Energy, Hanwha Total Energies, and Hanwha Ocean over 40 years. Hanwha Group expressed expectations that it will lead Hanwha Life’s business diversification and sustainable growth in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Lee is known as an expert in traditional insurance sales with extensive experience and understanding of the sales field. He has held positions such as head of planning and head of the insurance division at Hanwha Life. He was appointed as the head of Hanwha Life Financial Service in November 2022, and since then, the company has transitioned to profit and risen to first place in the corporate insurance agency (GA) industry.
