Chairman Jang In-hwa of POSCO Group (POSCO Holdings) visited the United States to introduce the group's strategy and discuss the opportunities for Korea-U.S. cooperation in the steel, secondary battery, materials, and energy sectors.
According to POSCO Group on the 19th, Chairman Jang attended a roundtable event organized by the Korea Society on the 17th (local time) in the United States and a forum hosted by World Steel Dynamics (WSD) at a world-renowned steel analysis institution.
At the roundtable event, Chairman Jang discussed opportunities for Korea-U.S. cooperation amidst geopolitical uncertainties, including global economic blockades, along with scholars from the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), geopolitics, and energy.
They also discussed pressing issues such as integrating field experts' fair knowledge and data into AI to enhance reliability and the automation solutions for high-risk and unstructured manufacturing environments.
On the 18th (local time), Chairman Jang attended the Global Steel Dynamics Forum hosted by WSD in New York, where he introduced the strategy of POSCO Group. Over 500 people, including David Burritt, CEO of U.S. Steel, attended the forum.
During the forum, a ceremony was also held for POSCO Holdings' permanent induction into WSD's Hall of Fame. Chairman Jang noted that POSCO Holdings ranked first in WSD's corporate evaluation for 15 consecutive years since 2010, expressing gratitude for the valuable sweat and dedication of POSCO employees.
He added that starting from this induction, they will make continuous efforts to enhance competitiveness through the realization of intelligent factories via AI and the development of hydrogen-reduced steelmaking technology.
