Kia announced on the 19th that it will deliver pharmaceuticals using purpose-built vehicles (PBV) in collaboration with the pharmaceutical distribution company GeoYoung.

On the 18th, Kia signed a business agreement with GeoYoung to create a pharmaceutical logistics ecosystem using PBV. As a result, the two companies plan to replace existing diesel vehicles with Kia's first electric PBV, the PV5, optimized for GeoYoung’s logistics field and vehicle operation characteristics.

Kia aims to provide customized charging solutions using the "Kia e-Life Package Biz" and support the creation of an electrification ecosystem for smooth operation of the PV5.

Kia plans to enhance the efficiency of pharmaceutical delivery operations, starting with the operational demonstration of Hyundai Motor Group's vehicle control solution, "Pleo Fleet." Pleo Fleet is a system that allows for integrated management of vehicle and driver status and remote control of vehicles without separate devices.

In this agreement, Kia aims to realize its vision of "a platform beyond vehicles" through PBV, while GeoYoung is targeting the creation of an eco-friendly business ecosystem through the transition to electric vehicles in the pharmaceutical distribution sector.

A representative from Kia said, "Through this business agreement, we plan to provide the PV5, optimized for GeoYoung's delivery environment supplying pharmaceuticals to major hospitals and pharmacies in the country, thereby enhancing delivery efficiency in narrow alleys and crowded urban areas and supporting the creation of an eco-friendly pharmaceutical logistics ecosystem through vehicle electrification."
