Kia collaborates with domestic leading pharmaceutical distribution company GeoYoung to create an eco-friendly pharmaceutical logistics ecosystem using PBV.

On the 18th, Kia's domestic business head Vice President Jeong Won-jeong, GeoYoung President Yoo Kwang-ryeol, and other key officials attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish an eco-friendly pharmaceutical logistics ecosystem utilizing GeoYoung and PBV at GeoYoung's headquarters (Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul).

This MOU was created as the visions of Kia, which aims to realize the 'Platform Beyond Vehicle' vision, and GeoYoung, which seeks to create a sustainable business ecosystem through the transition to electric vehicles in the pharmaceutical distribution sector, came together. The two companies plan to collaborate in three main areas through this agreement: converting GeoYoung's operational pharmaceutical delivery vehicles to PV5, providing customized charging solutions, and demonstrating the vehicle management solution 'Pleos Fleet.'

First, Kia and GeoYoung will jointly establish a PBV conversion program for the currently operational pharmaceutical delivery vehicles, followed by a plan to convert existing diesel vehicles into PBV models optimized for GeoYoung's logistics site and vehicle operation characteristics. Additionally, by utilizing the 'Kia e-Life Package Biz' program, they plan to provide customized charging solutions considering GeoYoung's business journey and support the establishment of an advanced electrification ecosystem to operate PV5 smoothly.

Along with this, Kia plans to enhance efficiency in pharmaceutical delivery operations by starting the operational demonstration of Hyundai Motor Group's vehicle management solution 'Pleos Fleet,' which is first introduced in the PV5. Through the Pleos Fleet demonstration, it is expected to safely and efficiently manage multiple vehicles without installing separate devices, analyzing vehicle conditions and drivers, as well as remote control, thus contributing to GeoYoung's pharmaceutical distribution innovation and strengthening competitiveness.

A Kia official noted, "Through this MOU, we plan to supply PV5 optimized for GeoYoung's delivery environment that supplies pharmaceuticals to major hospitals and pharmacies in Korea, increasing delivery efficiency even in narrow alleys or crowded urban areas, and supporting the establishment of an eco-friendly pharmaceutical logistics ecosystem through vehicle electrification. Going forward, Kia will provide customized solutions to meet the specialized requirements of various industry customers and fulfill its role as a business partner."

Kia began contracts for the brand's first dedicated PBV, 'The Kia PV5,' by revealing specifications and prices starting on the 10th.

Kia plans to sequentially launch the PV5 lineup starting with the passenger and cargo models. The basic lineup of the PV5 includes passenger, cargo, vehicles for the convenience of transport disadvantaged individuals, and chassis cabs, and various conversion models such as open beds developed by adding custom specifications to the basic model, 'Light Camper' optimized for leisure and relaxation, the high-end passenger model 'Prime,' refrigerated vans, and sliding vans will be introduced.
