Bodyfriend, a company specializing in healthcare robots, has acquired a patent for a massage device that presses the Heukgok blood point of the hand. The Heukgok point is an indentation located where the thumb and index finger meet on the back of the hand.
The registered patent pertains to a 'massage device equipped with a hand massage module.' The Heukgok point is known in traditional Korean medicine to be effective for relieving indigestion and facial puffiness.
When a user inserts their thumb into the massage device of the massage chair, the attached acupressure rod performs a forward and backward motion to press the Heukgok point on the back of the hand.
A Bodyfriend representative said, "We are continuously developing devices and technologies to improve health by pressing important acupressure points valued in traditional Korean medicine," adding, "We will continue to strive for new technology development to realize our mission of extending healthy lifespan by 10 years."
