The Hankuk Paper Association held the 9th Paper Day ceremony at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 13th. Seven domestic paper industry-related organizations also participated in the event, including the Seoul Gyeongin Distribution Wholesale Cooperative Association, the Korea Corrugated Packaging Industry Cooperative Association, the Korea Box Industry Cooperative Association, the Korea Paper Industry Cooperative Association, the Korea Paper Raw Material Recycling Cooperative Association, the Korea Green Industry Cooperative Association, and the Korea Pulp & Paper Engineering Society.
Choi Hyun-soo, chair of the Paper Association, noted, "Paper is a great invention of human civilization and an essential material closest to our lives," and emphasized, "Let us open the era of 'K Paper' with pride and confidence as paper makers."
He further presented practical tasks including a swift response to changes in demand structure, solidifying the identity as an eco-friendly industry, and expanding exports based on innovation and competitive advantage.
He also said, "Beyond simply making paper, we must create new value through convergence with advanced technologies," adding, "Let us boldly invest in technology development that will lead the future market, such as eco-friendly new materials, high-value-added functional specialty paper, and smart packaging, to drive the advancement of the paper industry's new materialization."
The event was attended by more than 100 people, including representatives from major paper companies like Hansol Paper and Moorim Paper, as well as representatives from related industries, academia, and government officials.
