HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on the 12th that it will pilot the 'Cool-Biz' policy, which allows casual commuting attire such as shorts and sandals, from the 16th to September 12.
Accordingly, not only technical and administrative employees but also employees of in-house partners can wear shorts and sandals (with fixed heels) during this period while commuting.
After arriving at work, employees must change into work uniforms and wear safety shoes while performing their tasks. However, training suits, leggings, sleeveless tops, slippers, and high heels are not recommended.
The company plans to evaluate employee satisfaction and safety during this year's pilot period to determine whether to officially implement it from next year.
This is the first time HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has allowed employees to wear shorts since its establishment in 1972. Due to the nature of constructing large vessels and handling heavy equipment, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has strictly restricted commuting attire.
However, it is reported that the regulations were changed to reflect the demands of new generations such as the MZ generation, improve the working environment, establish a flexible organizational culture, and prepare for summer heat waves.
