Korea's top corrugated box manufacturing company TAILIM PACKAGING announced on the 10th that its factory in Siheung received certification for the 'recyclable resource usage product' labeling system from the Ministry of Environment on the 27th of last month.
The recyclable resource usage product labeling system is a system that allows products that have received quality certification for using recyclable resources at a certain percentage as raw materials to be labeled on their packaging or containers. Recyclable resources refer to environmentally friendly waste resources that are not harmful to human health or the environment, can be traded economically, and do not pose a danger of being left unattended. They are classified as priority purchase requests or recommendations for public institutions and private organizations or corporations.
To obtain this certification, a product must contain at least 10% of its raw material weight as recyclable resources. Starting from a pilot project last year, Starbucks became the first company to obtain certification, followed by Samsung Electronics as the second and third, while TAILIM PACKAGING became the first in the industry and the fourth in the country to receive the certification.
TAILIM PACKAGING has established a 'resource-circulation packaging production system' that actively uses quality-certified recyclable resources and recycles waste and scrap resources generated during the production process. This minimizes the external outflow of waste paper resources and strengthens recycling networks with partners, leading the way in creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
An official from TAILIM PACKAGING noted, 'This certification is more than just acquiring a mark; it is the result of TAILIM PACKAGING's commitment to realizing resource circulation in practice.' They added, 'Starting from the Siheung factory, we will expand this to all TAILIM PACKAGING facilities and prioritize environmental protection in our management.'
Meanwhile, TAILIM PACKAGING, acquired by Global Sae-A Group in 2020, is implementing an environmentally friendly management philosophy of 'coexistence of people and a green environment.' Recently, they have been focusing on research and development and facility investments to reduce paper usage, such as developing 'high-strength lightweight corrugated boxes' and 'corrugated cooling boxes' to transform into an environmentally friendly corporation.
