Volvo Cars Korea (CEO Lee Yoon-mo) is launching a limited edition of 100 units of the premium compact SUV XC40 Black Edition and will start selling them on a first-come, first-served basis through the Volvo Cars digital shop from 10 a.m. on June 17.

The Volvo XC40 is the brand's first compact SUV, first introduced to the global market in 2017, and has achieved the top sales record for premium compact SUVs in the competitive European market for four consecutive years since 2020. It is a global bestselling model particularly recognized for its excellent product value in Korea, with 1,105 units sold from January to May this year, making it the highest-selling model among all import compact SUVs.

The XC40 has achieved a record of selling out in all three previous edition launches. The XC40 Sage Green Edition released in July 2023 sold out in just three minutes, the XC40 Dark Edition released in April 2024 sold out in four minutes, and the XC40 Black Edition released in October 2024 sold out in seven minutes.

The newly launched XC40 Black Edition is the same model that was sold out last year amid high customer interest, featuring the chic details unique to the Black Edition. The exterior will be available in a single color, Onyx Black, and the front iron mark logo and rear lettering will apply black accents instead of chrome. The 20-inch 5-spoke high-gloss wheels also feature black color that emphasizes a strong presence.

The interior also incorporates design elements unique to the Black Edition. Instead of the previously used Drift Wood material, Cutting Edge aluminum decor has been applied. Additionally, a black gear knob made of leather replaces the Orrefors® crystal gear knob, and charcoal-colored seats replace the blonde seats to provide a more chic and sophisticated feel.

The XC40 Black Edition is based on the top-tier Ultra trim and has secured product value and price competitiveness at the flagship model level. Despite being an entry-level model, it comes standard with Volvo's advanced safety technology and Swedish premium features, including an "integrated T-map infotainment system." Furthermore, to provide the best customer experience, it includes industry-leading standard services such as a five-year or 100,000 km warranty on general parts and an exchange service for consumables, 15 years of free over-the-air updates, and a five-year complimentary 5G digital package.

Lee Yoon-mo, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, noted, "We are reintroducing the XC40 Black Edition, which sold out in seven minutes last year, thanks to the strong support from customers, and I hope you will experience the unique sensibility of Swedish premium at a reasonable price with the XC40 Black Edition."

The selling price of the XC40 Black Edition is 56.1 million won, and it comes with a welcome package limited to the Black Edition, consisting of a black pouch and a card wallet.
