Hyundai Mobis, which declared its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, is accelerating its eco-friendly management activities.

According to the industry and others on the 4th, Hyundai Mobis, which became the first in the domestic automotive industry to join the RE100 (100% renewable energy usage rate) in 2022, aims to achieve carbon neutrality at major business sites in Korea and overseas by 2040. In five years, the company plans to achieve carbon neutrality across its supply chain.

To this end, Hyundai Mobis has established a greenhouse gas emission management system. This system monitors energy consumption and emissions in real-time at its business sites in Korea and abroad. Additionally, the company is actively reducing energy use in Korea by converting its fleet to eco-friendly vehicles, while overseas it continues efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by installing solar power facilities.

Hyundai Mobis has also established an organization to support environmental management and ESG management activities at its business sites in Korea and abroad. This organization proposes long-term environmental management strategies to the senior management and is responsible for managing and improving various risks. It also conducts training for employees, including education on understanding the entire carbon emission process through "ESG mindset" training and familiarizing with the company's biodiversity management activities.

In the institutional sector, research and development efforts are focused on eco-friendly products, particularly electrified components. The company is securing orders for key components necessary for hybrid and electric vehicles, including energy storage and conversion. A representative from Hyundai Mobis noted, "We plan to continuously expand the proportion of eco-friendly components."

Meanwhile, by operating a systematic environmental management system, Hyundai Mobis obtained the international environmental management system certification ISO 14001 at 17 business sites in Korea and abroad as of 2023.
