At the conference hosted by the Federation International des Societes d’Ingenieurs des Techniques de l’Automobile (FISITA), Hyundai Motor Group took center stage with keynote speeches and the exhibition of the new Nexo.
Hyundai Motor Group announced its future mobility technology vision at the FISITA World Mobility Conference 2025 (FISITA WMC), held from April 3 to 5 at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
FISITA is the largest academic institution consortium in the automotive field, involving automotive engineering societies from 36 countries worldwide, with approximately 210,000 global automotive researchers as members. Additionally, it holds conferences biannually, bringing together around 2,000 global technology leaders and experts in the mobility industry to share technologies and strengthen networking.
Starting this month, Kim Chang-hwan, Vice President of Hyundai Motor and Kia's electrification energy solutions, begins a two-year term as the first Korean elected president of FISITA. As president of FISITA, Kim Chang-hwan will chair the council and committees of global automotive engineering societies.
In connection with this, Hyundai Motor Group showcased its enhanced global status as the sole prime partner of the FISITA WMC this year by announcing its future technology vision and offering an exhibition program.
On the first day of the conference, April 3, José Muñoz, CEO of Hyundai Motor, shared the future technology vision of Hyundai Motor Group with global mobility industry leaders and engineers through a keynote speech. José Muñoz noted, "Hyundai Motor Group is expanding the boundaries of mobility technology to create a future where humanity can move more safely and conveniently." He also revealed the current status of technological development related to HMGMA's manufacturing automation system, autonomous driving, battery and fuel cell systems, and HTWO hydrogen refueling stations in the U.S.
In the session titled 'A Conversation with Hyundai Motor Group,' José Muñoz and global leaders from the mobility industry gathered to freely discuss the direction of industrial advancement and strengthen networking. José Muñoz stated, "As an engineer myself, it is very meaningful to be able to share Hyundai's future mobility development journey with fellow engineers participating in FISITA WMC."
Starting from April 4, a special session will take place where researchers from Hyundai Motor and Kia will introduce partnership cases in Europe and present mobility technologies developed in collaboration with partners.
Hyundai Motor Group will present cases of technology partnerships in Europe, including the use of software and hardware for virtual performance validation, research on securing chassis reliability for SDV vehicles based on PHM technology, and new bushing technologies to implement EV harmonics.
There will also be a session where mobility industry researchers from around the world present the status of the technologies they have developed. In this session, 17 researchers from Hyundai Motor and Kia will present excellent papers on various topics, including batteries, body advanced technologies, thermal management, autonomous driving, and electrification design.
In addition, Hyundai Motor Group will operate an exhibition program emphasizing its unique hydrogen mobility technology. To this end, an exhibition zone will be established under the theme 'A steadfast belief towards realizing a hydrogen society,' showcasing the new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle 'The All-New Nexo' and the fuel cell systems applied to the Nexo.
Kim Chang-hwan, president of FISITA, stated, "As the mobility industry is undergoing a major transformation, FISITA plays a crucial role in leading the future through global collaboration, innovation, and inclusive leadership," and added, "I will do my utmost to ensure that technological progress contributes to enhancing humanity's quality of life during my term as president."
