Last month, the total sales of five domestic automobile companies slightly increased compared to the same period last year. While Hyundai Motor Company saw sales drop by more than 1%, Kia showed an increase.

According to the automotive industry on the 2nd, the combined sales of five domestic car manufacturers, including Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, GM Korea, Renault Korea, and KG Mobility, totaled 689,311 units last month. This figure represents a 0.3% increase compared to the 687,530 units sold in the same month last year.

Hyundai Motor Company sold 351,174 units, a decrease of 1.7% compared to the same month last year in the global market. Domestic sales increased by 5.2% to 58,966 units, while overseas sales dropped by 0.9% to 292,208 units.

In the domestic market, sedans sold include 4,597 units of the Grandeur, 4,134 units of the Sonata, and 6,438 units of the Avante, totaling 15,923 units sold. Recreational vehicles (RVs) sold include 7,682 units of the Palisade, 4,969 units of the Santa Fe, 4,088 units of the Tucson, 1,922 units of the Kona, and 1,270 units of the Casper, totaling 23,232 units sold. Commercial vehicles sold include 4,498 units of the Porter, 3,282 units of the Staria, and 2,400 units of medium and large buses and trucks. The premium brand Genesis sold a total of 9,517 units, including 3,712 units of the G80, 2,354 units of the GV80, and 2,435 units of the GV70.

Kia's total sales in the global market were recorded at 269,148 units, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period last year. By model, the Sportage ranked first in sales with 48,091 units, followed by the Seltos with 26,017 units and the Sorento with 21,889 units.

In the domestic market, 45,003 units were sold, a decrease of 2.4% compared to the same month last year. The best-selling model in the domestic market was the Sorento, with 7,734 units sold. Passenger models sold include 4,000 units of the Ray, 3,028 units of the K5, and 2,627 units of the K8, totaling 12,664 units sold. RVs, including the Sorento, sold a total of 29,596 units, with 6,651 units of the Carnival, 5,295 units of the Sportage, 4,257 units of the Seltos, 1,866 units of the EV3, and 1,348 units of the Tasmann. Sales of commercial vehicles were 2,743 units.

Overseas sales were recorded at 223,817 units, an increase of 2.6% compared to the same period last year. The Sportage sold 42,796 units, making it the top-selling model overseas, followed by the Seltos with 21,760 units and K3 (including K4) with 17,641 units.

A representative of Kia noted, "Sales have been growing for four consecutive months compared to last year, thanks to strong global sales of eco-friendly vehicles and the successful launch of the EV4 and Tasmann," and added, "We will continue the sales growth by expanding exports and the eco-friendly vehicle lineup of the EV4 and Tasmann."

GM Korea's business sites sold a total of 50,029 units, a decrease of 1.8% compared to the same month last year when domestic and export sales are combined. Domestic sales plummeted by 39.8% to 1,408 units, while exports increased by 0.1% to 48,621 units.

Renault Korea recorded sales of 9,860 units last month, an increase of 47.6% compared to the same month last year. Domestic sales surged by 121% to 4,202 units, driven by improved performance from the mid-size SUV, the Grand Koleos, which was launched in the second half of last year, while exports increased by 18.4% to 5,658 units.

KG Mobility sold 9,100 units, an increase of 11.9% compared to the same month last year. Exports rose by 34.2% to 5,540 units, while domestic sales decreased by 11% to 3,560 units.
