Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled the one-of-a-kind bespoke model 'Phantom Goldfinger' at the classic and concept car exhibition 'Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este' in Italy on 24th, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of its most iconic model, the Phantom.
Phantom Goldfinger is a vehicle inspired by the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville owned by the film's villain Auric Goldfinger and is based on the Phantom Extended model. It was first unveiled in 2024, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the film's release, and was presented to the public in its physical form for the first time at this event.
Displayed on the iconic 'Mosaic Lawn' of the Grand Hotel near Lake Como, Phantom Goldfinger is a work completed with delicate elements reflecting characters, locations, and themes of the film, incorporating 18-carat and 24-carat gold details, utilizing gold, the symbol of the movie.
Additionally, Phantom Goldfinger is one of the Rolls-Royce models featured in a total of 12 James Bond films and is inspired by the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville. The original vehicle was also exhibited at the event, further illustrating the deep consolidation between the film and the automobile.
At this year's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Phantom release, eight artworks created by Rolls-Royce designers were also unveiled, themed around the evolution of the Phantom's design. Each piece artistically interpreted the Phantoms of different generations in accordance with the art styles of their respective eras, showcasing the world the Phantom has traversed over the past century and the impact it left during those times.
On the first day of the event, a parade was held featuring the perfectly preserved Phantom V, capturing the attention of spectators. The Phantom V is a model cherished by some of the most influential political and cultural figures in history, once again highlighting the authority and leadership symbolism inherent in the Phantom.
The unveiling of the Phantom Goldfinger and the Phantom's 100th anniversary celebration at this year's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este was recorded as a symbolic moment showcasing the artistry of Rolls-Royce Bespoke and the cultural influence of the Phantom. This announcement vividly demonstrated the Phantom's great legacy and its unwavering presence as a vehicle that continues to inspire the world for the next century.
Chris Brownridge, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, noted, 'Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este is the perfect stage for Rolls-Royce to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Phantom, and I am very proud to introduce Phantom Goldfinger to the world for the first time in this special venue.' He added, 'This vehicle is a piece that showcases the quintessence of Rolls-Royce Bespoke capabilities and is a heartfelt tribute to the film beloved by our customers,' emphasizing that the original model from 1937, which inspired Phantom Goldfinger, being exhibited at the event adds further significance.
