The hatchback Golf, representing Volkswagen, speeds up its entry into the Korean market. Since its launch in 1974, the Golf has been Volkswagen's best-selling model, with over 37 million units sold globally.

Volkswagen Korea recently introduced the eighth-generation facelift model, the "new Golf." In June, it plans to launch the high-performance model "new Golf GTI" to further expand its customer base.

The new Golf is characterized by its strong basic driving performance, advanced features, and fuel efficiency. Considering the brand value and product appeal, the starting sales price in the high 30 million won range is also quite reasonable.

The 2L TDI diesel engine equipped in the Volkswagen delivers a maximum output of 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 36.7 kg.m. It has also improved efficiency by combining the latest 7-speed DSG transmission using dual-clutch technology.

The vehicle can travel 860 km on a single tank based on combined fuel efficiency and 1000 km during high-speed driving. The certified combined fuel efficiency is 17.3 km per liter (15.2 km/L in the city, 20.8 km/L on highways), comparable to models in the same class as well as hybrid models.

Assuming an average daily driving distance of 30 km, based on the domestic average price of diesel fuel (1,502 won per liter) on the 15th of this month, daily fuel costs amount to about 2,605 won, totaling approximately 78,000 won per month.

Volkswagen's advanced driver assistance system "IQ.DRIVE" comes standard on all models. It includes various features such as adaptive cruise control (ACC) that automatically controls the distance to the vehicle in front and driving speed, exit warning systems, and lane-keeping assistance.

The price of the new Golf is ▲Premium 40,070,000 won ▲Prestige 43,960,000 won. With benefits such as a 2,000,000 won vehicle registration fee waiver for the launch, it can be purchased for just over 30 million won, according to Volkswagen.

A Volkswagen Korea official said, "Given the reality that imported vehicles in the 30 to 40 million won range are gradually decreasing, the price competitiveness of the Golf will be the optimal choice for consumers considering both economy and product appeal."
