Seoul National University Campus Town Business Group announced on the 30th that it received the highest grade A+ in the '2024 Campus Town Performance Evaluation' hosted by the Seoul metropolitan government.
This evaluation was conducted on 27 universities in Seoul, assessing four institutional sectors: nurturing entrepreneurial talent, supporting start-ups, specialized start-ups, and regional revitalization, using both quantitative and qualitative criteria. Seoul National University stood out in creating a deep tech-centered entrepreneurial ecosystem and global connection programs, receiving a market award.
Seoul National University is comprehensively supporting the growth of deep tech-based start-ups through programs in R&D commercialization, attracting investment, and global accelerating. In particular, the scale of the start-up support program amounts to approximately 33.5 billion won, and it was selected for a single project of 10.8 billion won in start-up support for robot industry technology development.
It also received high marks in terms of community engagement. The university operates a robotics and AI coding education program for elementary and middle school students in Gwanak District, providing over 90 hours of education to more than 240 students through school visits and vacation camps. This program is regarded as an example that simultaneously achieves the dual effects of nurturing future entrepreneurial talent and spreading entrepreneurial culture in the region.
The performance of the start-ups was also remarkable. The survival rate of start-ups that were part of the Seoul National University Campus Town Business Group is 94.83%, and the total revenue of start-ups in 2024 is about 15.8 billion won, with total investment amounts reaching approximately 31.5 billion won. Employment creation was recorded at 360 jobs.
