LIG Nex1 is partnering with Babcock Marine in the UK to target the overseas shipbuilding and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business.
LIG Nex1 announced on the 30th that it signed a memorandum of cooperation with Babcock on the 29th at the Busan International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2025) to jointly participate in the development of the ship MRO business and new shipbuilding projects. Park Tae-sik, head of the missile system division at LIG Nex1, as well as Ilgi Kim, Chief Commercial Officer at Babcock, attended the event.
The two corporations plan to jointly pursue new shipbuilding projects, develop integrated operations MRO solutions for unmanned surface vehicles, and collaboratively develop overseas ship MRO projects. Babcock is a defense company that builds the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers in the UK and specializes in managing the total life cycle MRO for the Royal Navy.
LIG Nex1 noted, "We will provide an integrated solution that manages ship production and MRO simultaneously so that customers can focus on combat."
