Doosan Enerbility will supply key equipment to a gas combined cycle power plant under construction in Saudi Arabia. The total contract amount is 340 billion won.
Doosan Enerbility said on the 27th that it has signed a contract to supply steam turbines and generators to the Ghazlan 2 Expansion power plant. Last month, it made a contract to supply key equipment to the Hajar Expansion power plant. The contracting parties are a joint venture comprised of Spain's and Egypt's largest construction companies, Tecnicas Reunidas and Orascom. They are responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction.
With this contract, Doosan Enerbility will supply two steam turbines and generators, each rated at 650 megawatts (MW) and 540 MW, to the two power plants. Each power plant will have a capacity of 2,900 MW and will be constructed by 2028. Both are located about 400 km northeast of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Doosan Enerbility has secured 7.3 gigawatts (GW), or 33.1%, of the 22.1 GW of ultra-large steam turbines ordered worldwide over the past five years, marking the highest market share. Among these, it has won contracts for nine steam turbines in Saudi Arabia. Steam turbines are classified by capacity into small (below 5–30 MW), medium (below 30–100 MW), large (below 100–300 MW), and ultra-large (above 300 MW).
