On the 26th, HMM announced that it will start operating the North-China Indonesia Service (NIS) route connecting northern China and Indonesia starting next month.
HMM plans to operate the NIS route alongside its existing Intra-Asia Cross network (ICN) service to enhance competitiveness on the Indonesia route.
The NIS route will be jointly operated with Singaporean shipping companies PIL and X-PRESS FEEDER. Five ships with a capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) will be deployed, with the first sailing scheduled from Tianjin, China, on the 19th of next month.
The ports of call are Tianjin, Qingdao, Xiamen, Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya, and back to Tianjin, with a round trip taking about 35 days.
A HMM official noted, 'We plan to continuously strengthen our new network in Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean in addition to our existing services focused on long-distance routes.'
