Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 26th that it is establishing the ZER01NE Fund No. 3 to invest in innovative startups.
ZER01NE is an open innovation platform established by Hyundai Motor Group in 2018 with the goal of creating an ecosystem for creative talent.
The ZER01NE Fund No. 3 has been formed with a size of 125 billion won. Hyundai Motor and Kia each contributed 40 billion won, and Hyundai Motor Securities provided 10 billion won, collaboratively planning and managing the fund. Seven group companies, including Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai GLOVIS, HYUNDAI WIA, and Hyundai Rotem, also participated as investors by contributing funds.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to use the fund to explore future new businesses and technologies related to artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, hydrogen, and cybersecurity, focusing on the Asian region, including Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia, and to invest in promising early-stage startups.
Additionally, the group plans to discover various strategic collaboration cases with the invested early-stage startups and its group companies and promote the internalization of future innovative technologies. Hyundai Motor Group has invested in 105 companies through the funds established in 2018 and 2021, creating over 200 collaboration cases.
