On the 26th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it will additionally implement the 'Overseas Export Regulation Response Support Project' to strengthen the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises in responding to overseas export regulations.
This support project is being implemented with an additional supplementary budget of 10 billion won to ease the burdens of small and medium-sized enterprises facing difficulties due to tariffs imposed by the recent Trump administration. In particular, the project aims to provide related information and consulting to companies seeking to explore new markets and to support them in responding swiftly to obtain certifications required by the export target countries.
First, to enable corporations to smoothly obtain the required certifications in the export target countries, up to 70% of the expenses incurred for testing, certification, and consulting will be subsidized, with a maximum limit of 100 million won per corporation. The limit for small certification support, which was previously up to 35 million won, will also temporarily increase to 50 million won. Corporations already participating in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' overseas certification acquisition support project may also exceptionally participate in this project.
In addition, a prior consulting system will be introduced to help novice corporations obtain certifications without trial and error. Certification experts will review whether the necessary documents and on-site inspections are prepared for individual corporations and make up for any deficiencies.
Furthermore, a dedicated response team composed of experts, including customs brokers, will be operated to provide information related to export regulations from various countries, including changes in U.S. tariff policies, and quickly respond to the difficulties faced by corporations. An 'artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot consultation' system will also be established to allow real-time access and inquiries. In addition, seminars on export regulations and tariffs, along with expert consultations, will be held across 15 regions nationwide, and a certification response guidebook and video content will be produced and distributed.
