Doosan Enerbility announced on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Western Power for the development and demonstration of a Korean-style 90 MW-class medium-sized hydrogen combustion turbine and cooperation in entering overseas markets.
The MOU signing ceremony took place on the 22nd at the Doosan Enerbility headquarters in Changwon, Gyeongnam, with attendees including Vice Chairman Jeong Yeon-in of Doosan Enerbility and President Lee Jeong-bok of Korea Western Power.
Doosan Enerbility has decided to take charge of developing medium-sized hydrogen combustion turbine technology and securing mass production technology for related components. Korea Western Power will be responsible for applying and demonstrating the turbine in new power plant construction.
The two companies set the policy to comply with the government's clean hydrogen power expansion policy and work to establish a stable hydrogen power base through the signing of the MOU.
Additionally, they agreed to actively cooperate with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises participating in this collaboration to enter the overseas market for the Korean-style hydrogen turbine.
Vice Chairman Jeong Yeon-in noted, “Through this agreement, we will develop a Korean-style medium hydrogen combustion turbine to strengthen the domestic hydrogen power base,” and added, “We also plan to actively pursue overseas expansion.”
Doosan Enerbility continues to develop hydrogen turbines. The company aims to complete the development of both the medium-sized 90 MW-class and the large 400 MW-class hydrogen combustion turbines by 2028.
