Ecopro HN announced on the 25th that it has successfully developed a third-generation catalyst called Honey Comb used in greenhouse gas reduction systems and completed its patent application.
It has been about two years since Ecopro HN began developing Honey Comb in 2023. The company plans to apply it in industrial sites in the second half of 2026 after completing on-site tests with clients.
The catalyst is a core material used in greenhouse gas reduction devices that adsorbs and decomposes atmospheric pollutants to remove greenhouse gases. It is primarily utilized in systems that eliminate greenhouse gases produced at semiconductor and display factories.
Honey Comb is designed in a honeycomb shape, increasing the surface area by more than three times compared to existing models, thereby enhancing the efficiency of perfluorocarbon (PFC) reduction per unit area.
The PFC removal rate of Honey Comb is over 99%, and Ecopro HN noted that its lifespan has also increased compared to the second-generation catalyst. A 99% PFC removal rate means that at a factory emitting 1 kg of PFC gas, approximately 990 g can be removed.
Kim Jong-seop, CEO of Ecopro HN, said, "We are challenging the development of catalysts that remove PFC gases in various processes through various tests on active substances that enhance catalyst efficiency," adding, "We also plan to develop technologies for carbon dioxide capture and utilization."
