On June 3, the election day, most courier companies, including Coupang, decided to go on a break, thus guaranteeing the voting rights of courier drivers.
According to the courier industry on the 23rd, courier companies such as CJ Logistics, Hanjin Logistics, and LOTTE Global Logistics decided to take a break on the election day.
In particular, Coupang ensured that its weekly delivery drivers could participate in voting. Consequently, Coupang's Rocket Delivery service is expected to face some disruptions for the first time.
Previously, the Korean Federation of Postal Workers noted, "Due to Coupang, other courier companies also started 7-day deliveries, and each is designating June 3 as a working day to avoid falling behind in competition," and urged that the date of the 21st presidential election be designated as "a day without deliveries."
In this regard, private courier companies have decided to take a break, and Coupang has also decided to stop weekly deliveries.
During the previous 20th presidential election, CJ Logistics, LOTTE Delivery, Hanjin Delivery, LOGEN Delivery, and postal delivery all took a break; however, Coupang did not implement a break on the voting day.
