The court did not accept the injunction request filed by some pilots, whose affiliations were to change due to Asiana Airlines selling its cargo business division to Air Incheon, to block their transfer.
On the 22nd, according to the aviation and legal sectors, the Seoul Southern District Court's Civil Division 51 rejected the union's request for a suspension of the transfer order against Asiana Airlines filed on the 29th of last month.
Previously, the union argued that Asiana Airlines' issuance of transfer orders without obtaining individual consent from B747 and B767 (cargo aircraft) pilots was unjust, thus filing for an injunction. The union also claimed that operational crew members affiliated with the operation division should not be transferred, rather than those from the cargo division.
However, the court dismissed the union's assertion of the unjust nature of the transfer orders to Air Incheon. Accordingly, the separation sale of Asiana Airlines to Air Incheon is expected to proceed as originally scheduled.
Asiana Airlines plans to complete the transfer of its cargo business division to Air Incheon by the 10th of next month. The integrated launch of Air Incheon is scheduled for July 1. The partitioning of Asiana Airlines' cargo business sale was carried out in accordance with the approval conditions from the European Union (EU) Commission and the Japan Fair Trade Commission regarding the merger of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.
An official from Asiana Airlines noted, "We will strive to ensure that the procedure for the separation sale of the cargo business smoothly concludes."
