The meeting was held on the same day at 9 a.m. at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. From the government side, Director Song Young-sang of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Director Naveshima Manabu of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan attended.

KISCO's Vice Chairman Lee Kyung-ho attended, and from the Japanese side, Executive Director Uchiya Shoichi of the Japan Iron and Steel Federation also participated. About 70 officials from the major steel industries of both countries, including these attendees, were present at the meeting.

The meeting was structured around three main themes: ▲economic trends of both countries ▲trends in the steel industry ▲topics of mutual interest. Topics of mutual interest included the trends of U.S. steel tariff measures under Section 232, responses to global oversupply, and issues regarding trade in major products.

Participants shared that the management conditions of the steel industry are worsening due to the slowdown in global steel demand, uncertainties arising from U.S. tariff measures, and the expansion of unfair imports due to intensified oversupply.

In light of these circumstances, they agreed on the need for both countries' industries to establish close response strategies and strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation, deciding to continue collaboration through future regular consultations and green steel seminars.
