The Italian luxury car brand Maserati's motorsport team 'Maserati MSG Racing' has achieved its first victory of the season at the 'ABB FIA Formula E World Championship' season 11 '2025 Tokyo E-PRIX'.

Formula E is the world's top electric car racing competition that proves pure electric vehicle technology through fierce competition, and the Tokyo round, set against the backdrop of downtown Tokyo, was held for the second time this year following last year.

This round took place under the unusual circumstance of the qualifiers being canceled for the first time this season. Due to heavy rain, the qualifiers were called off, and the grid was determined based on the results of the second free practice session, with Maserati drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes starting in 14th and 15th positions, respectively.

Even with the race start delayed by 10 minutes, the race began behind the safety car due to standing water on the track, and a standing start was conducted on the fourth lap. The Maserati MSG Racing team opted for a bold strategy, with Vandoorne being the first driver to use the pit boost.

This strategy paid off perfectly. Vandoorne was able to gain positions without any time loss during the red flag situation that occurred right after he came out of the pit lane. After taking the lead, Vandoorne maintained a stable pace until the end, driving Maserati MSG Racing to its first victory of the season.

Maria Conti, head of Maserati Corse, the Maserati institutional sector, noted, "Winning once again in Tokyo with a perfect strategy and teamwork despite unpredictable weather is a very special achievement," and added, "Today's result will be recorded as another meaningful moment in Maserati's history, which is approaching its 100th anniversary in motorsport."
