Volvo Car Korea (CEO Lee Yun-mo) announced that it has donated 15,800 "Child Safety Key Rings" to the Seoul Gangdong Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and the Seoul Seocho Childcare Comprehensive Support Center in collaboration with the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute to ensure children's walking safety.
The "Child Safety Key Ring" is a traffic safety item that can be attached to children's bags or belongings. It enhances the visibility of children while walking by about nine times by reflecting vehicle headlights or sunlight, helping drivers to better identify children. Many European countries, including Sweden, mandate traffic safety items for children to effectively prevent traffic accidents.
Volvo Car Korea produced the "Child Safety Key Rings" and donated 9,510 to the Seoul Gangdong Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and 6,290 to the Seoul Seocho Childcare Comprehensive Support Center. The donated "Child Safety Key Rings" will be distributed to local daycare centers, Seoul-style kids' cafes, and toy libraries through each institution.
Lee Yun-mo, CEO of Volvo Car Korea, stated, "To create a safe walking environment for our children, we produced and donated the 'Child Safety Key Rings' again this year, following last year, and we aim to widely promote safety and family values, which are extremely important to Volvo, and to strive in various ways so that our society can be a safe home for everyone, including children."
Volvo Car Korea previously donated "Child Safety Key Rings" on three occasions last year. It delivered a total of 19,800 "Child Safety Key Rings" to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, the Seoul Dongjak Police Station, the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute, and the Seoul Gangnam Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and the Seoul Songpa Childcare Comprehensive Support Center to protect children's safety on the road.
In addition, Volvo Car Korea's official dealers joined the good cause. Iron Motors (CEO Kim Min-kyu), the official dealer responsible for Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, conducted a large-scale safety campaign in April, distributing about 20,000 "Child Safety Key Rings" to all students in 18 elementary schools in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam areas. Also, Taeyoung Motors (CEO Kim Yong-soo), the official dealer for Daegu and Pohang regions, distributed 3,000 "Child Safety Key Rings" to four elementary schools in the Daegu area.
