A private delegation from the business community discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries with President Emmanuel Macron in France.
The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) private delegation attended the 'Korea-France Special Roundtable' held at the Palace of Versailles in France on the 19th (local time) and met with President Macron and other officials from the French government and business sectors.
This meeting was arranged as a bilateral business seminar focused on specific countries during the 'Choose France Summit,' which invites global corporations' chief executive officers to introduce France's industry and investment environment.
This year's event marks the 8th session and was attended by FKI Chairman Ryu Jin, CJ Chairman Son Kyung-sik, Hanjin Group Chairman Cho Won-tae, SPC Group President Heo Jin-soo, Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon, and Enchem CEO Oh Jeong-gang.
They discussed ways to strengthen industrial cooperation between the two countries as well as challenges in the local investment environment. Corporations also sought cooperation opportunities in areas such as carbon neutrality, clean energy, and the defense industry through individual meetings.
Chairman Ryu noted, "I hope that cooperation in promising fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and decarbonization will begin in earnest," and requested that President Macron visit Korea directly in 2026, the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, so that the discussions can be translated into actual cooperation.
