Lexus Korea has launched an assault on the imported SUV market with the brand's flagship Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) model, the LX 700h.
According to the industry on the 14th, the recently released 'The All-New LX 700h' from Lexus Korea is a large SUV and the fourth-generation model of the LX series. The LX series began in 1996. After launching the brand's first SUV, the LX 450, Lexus successively released the second generation LX 470 and third generation LX 570. Currently, these models are sold in over 50 countries worldwide.
Developed under the concept of "comfortable and luxurious on any road," the LX 700h maintains the reliability and durability of the LX while incorporating a parallel hybrid system for electrification. The new hybrid system features a motor generator positioned between a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The motor generator automatically controls the engine and motor operation depending on driving conditions.
The exterior is designed with a dynamic design. Additionally, the interior, applying the Tazuna concept, provides intuitive controls that help the driver maintain focus in various driving environments. The cabin space applies a traditional body-on-frame structure, ensuring spaciousness. Moreover, Lexus states that the vehicle's performance has been improved through a lower center of gravity, weight reduction, and enhanced body rigidity.
The LX 700h is available in three configurations: a 4-seater VIP, a 5-seater Overtrail, and a 7-seater Luxury. The VIP trim is equipped with high-end convenience features, while the Overtrail focuses on enhancing off-road capabilities. The Luxury trim is designed with an emphasis on spaciousness and practicality.
Lexus plans to target the growing premium SUV market with the LX 700h and the hybrid SUV LM 500h launched in July last year. A representative from Lexus Korea noted that "both models are encapsulations of Lexus's values" and stated, "We will cater to the diverse clientele that has been increasingly emerging."
