The most powerful Rolls-Royce in the brand's history has arrived in the domestic market. The high-performance version of the pure electric vehicle 'Spectre' has landed in Korea.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled the 'Black Badge Spectre,' the brand's most powerful model to date, on the 13th. It boasts a staggering output of 659 horsepower. The price is 719 million won, with a maximum driving range of 398 km.
'Spectre,' symbolizing the spirit of innovation at Rolls-Royce, is the brand's first pure electric vehicle. It received a worldwide response immediately after its release. In 2024, it recorded the second-highest demand among the entire lineup of Rolls-Royce models, presenting a new dimension in electric vehicle experiences as it harmonizes the brand's unique sense of luxury and cutting-edge technology.
The newly unveiled Black Badge Spectre is a high-performance version of the Spectre, reinterpreted through the bold perspective unique to the Black Badge, which represents another persona of the brand. It features the optimal performance based on actual usage patterns, analyzing anonymized driving data from existing Black Badge buyers, revealing hundreds of thousands of kilometers.
The Black Badge Spectre showcases overwhelming performance with a maximum output of 659 horsepower (PS) and a maximum torque of 109.6 kg·m. In particular, the newly introduced 'Infinity Mode' and 'Spirited Mode' intuitively draw out the powerful output, providing explosive acceleration and an immersive driving experience.
Alongside uncompromising driving performance, bold exterior finishes, vivid interior details, and innovative bespoke options harmoniously reflect the refined and diverse tastes of customers while completing the impressive presence unique to the Black Badge Spectre.
At the unveiling event held at the Rolls-Royce Seoul Cheongdam showroom in Gangnam, Seoul, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars showcased vehicles that emphasized the bold personality of the luxury super coupe, the Black Badge Spectre. The exterior features a combination of deep purple Vapour Violet and Iced Black bonnet, harmonizing with the darkened Pantheon grille and the detailing of the emblem of the Spirit of Ecstasy, revealing the vehicle's strong presence. The interior is finished primarily in black with a peony pink color scheme, enhanced by Arctic White seat piping, elegantly expressing the dynamic and sophisticated sensibility unique to the Black Badge.
Irene Nikkein, head of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Asia Pacific, noted, "The Black Badge Spectre symbolically reveals the dedication and technology Rolls-Royce puts into creating the finest automobiles," adding, "We are honored to present this model to Korean customers who value their own beliefs and personalities and possess a deep understanding and insight into luxury." She continued, "The Black Badge Spectre is a model that harmonizes uncompromising performance with captivating design, further solidifying the bond between the brand and customers, and I am confident it will lead to the success of Rolls-Royce."
The Black Badge Spectre is expected to be delivered sequentially to buyers starting in the third quarter.
At the end of this month, a separate unveiling event for the Black Badge Spectre will be held at the Rolls-Royce Busan showroom for local customers. Rolls-Royce plans to further strengthen its bespoke service, which the brand is focusing on long-term, and provide a unique luxury experience to domestic customers.
▲Two innovative modes that fully utilize powerful output and dedicated chassis engineering
The Black Badge Spectre provides bold dynamics and uncompromising driving experiences based on powerful output, immediate response, and precise engineering. First, the 'Infinity Mode,' which pays homage to the infinity symbol representing the Black Badge, is activated by pressing the '∞' button on the steering wheel, providing a maximum output of 659 horsepower and immediate pedal response. This mode makes the colors of the dashboard display vibrantly change according to driving conditions.
The accompanying 'Spirited Mode' is inspired by the legendary Merlin aircraft engine functionality of Rolls-Royce and is activated when the driver simultaneously presses the brake and accelerator pedals, along with haptic and visual responses. Once the driver lifts their foot off the brake, the torque instantaneously rises to 109.6 kg·m, showcasing explosive acceleration that allows the car to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.3 seconds.
By increasing the weight of the steering and adjusting the roll stabilization feature, it provides more intuitive feedback and superior cornering stability, while enhanced damper performance improves body control, minimizing front-to-back sway that occurs during acceleration and deceleration. This offers an even more immersive driving experience while perfectly maintaining the Rolls-Royce's signature 'Magic Carpet Ride' ride comfort.
With the unveiling of the Black Badge Spectre, Rolls-Royce introduced the new exterior color 'Vapour Violet' for the first time. This deep black and purple hue, inspired by the neon colors of 1980s-90s club culture, harmonizes with the contrasting 'Iced Black' bonnet, showcasing an intense presence. In addition, customers can choose from over 44,000 bespoke color palettes or collaborate with bespoke designers to develop unique colors.
Moreover, in addition to existing shoulder and fender coach line options, a new 'Waft' coach line has been added to emphasize the vehicle's lower body design, further enhancing the proud proportions and presence of the Black Badge Spectre. The new 23-inch, 5-spoke forged aluminum wheels are offered in either a partial gloss or all-black finish, subtly revealing the inherent technological prowess and performance through intricate geometrical designs. The signature high-gloss black finish of the Black Badge is applied throughout the exterior, including the Pantheon grille, the Spirit of Ecstasy, the double R badge, door handles, window frames, and bumper accents, completing the vehicle's intense character.
The front features a newly applied 'illuminated grille backplate' that further highlights the illuminated Pantheon grille, a symbol of Rolls-Royce. The backplate is available in various colors such as tailored purple, Charles blue, chartreuse, and posy yellow, designed to harmonize with the exterior colors, coach lines, and overall interior ambiance. The external lighting effects continue into the interior and create an even more dramatic atmosphere through the 'illuminated Black Badge treadplate,' composed of a total of ten contrasting color options.
▲Interior that embodies a strong inner sanctuary
The moment you enter the Black Badge Spectre, you can instantly feel the intense atmosphere created by its bold interior design. The front features an illuminated fascia abstractly expressing the Spirit of Ecstasy, above which are 5,500 'stars' intricately adorned in various sizes and brightness, alongside the infinity symbol representing the Black Badge. This intricate design is completed with a technical fiber finish that meticulously combines carbon fiber and fine metal threads over black Bolivar wood, adding a deep three-dimensional effect with diamond patterns and handcrafted finishes. The leather 'Waterfall' section, separating the rear seats, is delicately embroidered with the infinity symbol.
Additionally, through the in-vehicle 'SPIRIT' operating system, users can select one of five themes—Vivid Yellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultra Violet, and Sins Wave—to customize the dashboard display. This digital architecture not only encompasses functions like wireless charging and information on charging stations, but also links to Rolls-Royce's dedicated digital membership app, 'Whispers.' Through this, owners can remotely interact with the vehicle and receive carefully selected real-time information from luxury specialists in the brand.
