The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced that it held an innovative technology and equipment introduction meeting on the 13th at the Daejeon Convention Center to discover technologies and equipment used to enhance the operational capability of weapons systems.
According to DAPA, the introduction meeting, held starting in 2024, is a venue to introduce technologies and equipment held by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the military and relevant departments operating weapons systems, as well as comprehensive corporations related to weapons systems. Eleven SMEs from the Daejeon area, including startups founded in research labs at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and research SMEs funded by government-funded research institutes, participated in the event.
At the site, 13 types of technologies and equipment were introduced, including four-legged walking unmanned robots and digital twins (technology that implements an object at the same level as actual weapons systems to optimize those systems). DAPA also explained various support programs for defense SMEs and conducted consulting to help them participate in the defense industry.
Bang Geuk-cheol, head of the DAPA Base Power Business Headquarters, said, "I hope the innovative technologies and equipment discovered through this introduction meeting can be swiftly applied to enhance defense capabilities and serve as a stepping stone for SMEs to grow further."
