The vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology startup Ettifos announced on the 13th that its vehicle terminal V2X-AIR has obtained official certification from the international V2X certification organization, OmniAir Consortium. With this certification, Ettifos has gained recognition for product competitiveness in major V2X markets, including the U.S. and Europe, establishing a foundation for full-fledged global expansion.

V2X-AIR is an aftermarket vehicle terminal (Onboard Unit) based on LTE-V2X technology, compliant with V2X standards from multiple countries, including the U.S., South Korea, China, and Europe. Notably, it features easy installation in vehicles and maximizes user convenience by integrating with a smartphone app. This is evaluated as a significant improvement over the complex installation procedures and low usability pointed out in existing V2X products.

The certification process was conducted by the Korea Information & Communication Technology Association (TTA), the only OmniAir certification testing organization in the country.

Park Yong-tae, CTO of Ettifos, said, “V2X-AIR is equipment that has passed both indoor tests and real-world driving tests according to global standards,” adding, “Through OmniAir certification, we have officially recognized the communication quality and interoperability required in global markets such as the United States.”

OmniAir certification is a key certification that guarantees interoperability and communication performance between V2X communication devices, deemed an essential condition for entry into major V2X infrastructure markets centered in North America.

Jason Conley, secretary general of the OmniAir Consortium, stated, “Congratulations to Ettifos for obtaining OmniAir certification for the V2X-AIR vehicle terminal,” and added, “I applaud Ettifos' commitment to providing a trusted interoperability solution for traffic safety and improved mobility.”

Starting with this vehicle terminal certification, Ettifos plans to sequentially secure OmniAir certification for all of its V2X equipment, including roadside base stations, by the first half of 2025. Through this, it aims to enhance credibility and technical capabilities in the global market and to leap forward as a comprehensive V2X solution provider with international competitiveness.
