Samsung SDI announced on the 7th that it received an award among domestic battery companies at 'The Smarter E Europe 2025,' the largest energy exhibition in Europe, which opened in Munich, Germany.
At this exhibition, where 14 products and technologies were ultimately selected, Samsung SDI's new product 'U8A1' for high-output uninterruptible power supply (UPS) received an award in the 'energy storage' category, while the thermal propagation barrier safety technology 'No TP (No Thermal Propagation)' was awarded in the 'E-mobility' category.
The U8A1 can supply emergency power when unexpected situations such as power outages occur in facilities like data centers, and it has the capability to stabilize power quality that deteriorates when there is a sudden surge in power demand. Compared to previous products, the U8A1 has improved output per battery rack by over 40%, enhancing spatial efficiency. No TP is a technology that prevents thermal propagation to adjacent cells even when problems occur in specific battery cells.
A Samsung SDI official noted, 'Among all companies participating in this event worldwide, Samsung SDI is the only one to receive multiple awards.' They added, 'Continuing from receiving the 'Interbattery Awards' for ultra-high output cylindrical batteries and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) material technology at the largest domestic battery industry exhibition, 'Interbattery 2025,' held in March of this year, we have also been recognized for our innovative battery technology at Europe's largest energy exhibition.'
