Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) has once again been impeded by Electricité de France (EDF) ahead of the full contract signing for the 24 trillion won Czech Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 construction project. The final competitor, EDF, filed an injunction against KHNP at the Brno District Court in the Czech Republic, causing the nuclear power contract signing to halt.

On the 6th (local time), according to foreign news reports, the Brno District Court in the Czech Republic cited EDF's injunction and ordered the suspension of the final contract signing between KHNP and ČEZ, the Czech energy company.

Previously, EDF had filed an objection to the Czech Competition Authority (ÚOHS), alleging suspected unfair competition, which was dismissed. This time, they submitted an injunction again, which the court upheld. The effect of the suspension of signing will continue until the injunction filed by EDF is lifted.

A representative from KHNP stated, "The contract situation is currently unclear, and we are in discussions with the ordering party."

On the 7th, a contract signing ceremony for the Czech nuclear power plant construction was scheduled to take place in Prague, but this timeline may face delays. The delegation includes ministers and vice ministers from the economic sector, as well as members of the National Assembly from various political parties.

The Czech nuclear power plant construction project is a large-scale endeavor to build two units of 1,000 MW (APR1000), set to commence in 2029 and complete in 2037. KHNP entered the bidding competition in 2022 with a "Team Korea" strategy.
