Hanwha Ocean announced on the 6th that on the 2nd, a ‘New Safety Culture Commitment Workshop’ was held at its global center training facility, attended by all production-related executives, including CEO Kim Hee-chul.

The Commitment Workshop is an event where executives holding key decision-making authority, including the CEO, set the fundamental principles and directions for safety at business sites, pledging to practice safety first in the workplace with a leading attitude.

More than 20 executives responsible for production across various business sectors, including manufacturing, bulk carriers, special ships, and marine, attended this workshop and continued discussions on the dissemination and expansion of safety culture. They established a safety vision of ‘the world’s safest shipyard, where all employees leave work as they arrived,’ and decided to check detailed departmental safety plans quarterly to enhance continuity.

Kim Hee-chul, who spent the entire day of the workshop, noted, “Creating and maintaining a safe workplace is the foundation and the top priority value of Hanwha Ocean’s sustainable future,” adding, “As CEO, I will provide unlimited support to ensure that all employees can do their best work in a safe environment.”

Hanwha Ocean has partnered with the global safety consulting firm JMJ to receive professional consulting aimed at establishing a safety culture. It is also in the process of implementing safety renewal measures announced last year, valued at approximately 1.9 trillion won. The amount invested in safety last year exceeded 600 billion won, surpassing the initial investment plan. This year, over 700 billion won has been secured for continued investment in safety.
