Last month, the total sales of five domestic automakers increased compared to the same period last year. While Hyundai Motor and Kia saw sales growth both domestically and internationally, GM Korea and Renault Korea, as well as KG Mobility, showed a decline in their sales performance.

On the 2nd, according to the finished car industry, the combined sales of the five domestic car companies, including Hyundai Motor, Kia, GM Korea, Renault Korea, and KG Mobility, were recorded at 688,778 units last month. This figure is a 2.4% increase compared to 672,505 units sold in the same month last year.

Hyundai Motor sold 353,338 units globally, a 2% increase compared to the same month last year. Domestic sales were 67,510 units, up 5.9%, while overseas sales reached 285,828 units, a 1.1% increase.

In the domestic market, sedans sold included 6,080 units of the Grandeur, 4,702 units of the Sonata, and 7,099 units of the Avante, totaling 18,491 units. Recreational vehicles (RVs) included 6,662 units of the Palisade, 6,354 units of the Santa Fe, 5,223 units of the Tucson, 2,722 units of the Kona, and 1,455 units of the Casper, totaling 25,728 units sold. Commercial vehicles included 5,372 units of the Porter, 3,727 units of the Staria, and 2,573 units of medium to large buses and trucks sold. The premium brand Genesis sold 4,340 units of the G80, 2,927 units of the GV80, and 3,093 units of the GV70, totaling 10,504 units sold.

Kia's total global sales amounted to 274,437 units, representing a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. By model, the Sportage topped sales with 47,737 units sold, followed by the Sorento with 25,543 units and the Seltos with 23,855 units.

In the domestic market, 51,005 units were sold, a 7.4% increase compared to the same month last year. The most sold model in the domestic market was the Sorento, which recorded 8,796 units. Passenger models included 4,262 units of the RAY, 3,581 units of the K5, and 2,566 units of the K8, totaling 12,415 units sold. RV sales included the Sorento along with 7,592 units of the Carnival, 6,703 units of the Sportage, 5,101 units of the Seltos, and 3,057 units of the EV3, totaling 35,152 units sold. Sales of commercial vehicles were at 3,438 units.

Overseas sales recorded 223,113 units, a 4.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The Sportage achieved the highest overseas sales with 41,034 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 20,442 units and the K3 (including K4) with 16,666 units.

A Kia official noted, 'Sales are increasing both domestically and internationally,' and added, 'We will continue the sales growth with competitive new models such as the EV4 and Tazman.'

GM Korea's business site recorded a total of 41,644 units sold last month, a 6.3% decrease compared to the same month last year, combining both domestic and export sales. Domestic sales plummeted by 42.3% to 1,326 units, while exports fell by 4.3% to 40,318 units.

Renault Korea recorded a sales volume of 10,427 units last month, a 1.4% decrease compared to the same month last year. Domestic sales improved significantly due to the mid-size SUV, the Grand Koleos, released in the second half of last year, which surged by 195.1% to 5,252 units, while exports decreased by 41.1% to 5,175 units.

KG Mobility sold 8,932 units, an 8.4% decrease compared to the same month last year. Exports dropped to 5,386 units, down 11.5%, while domestic sales fell by 3.2% to 3,546 units.
