Swedish premium electric vehicle brand Polestar unveiled the price-competitive and product-enhanced 2025 Polestar 2 on the 30th.

The Polestar 2, released domestically for the first time in 2022, recorded the highest sales among imported electric vehicles. The new Polestar 2 features the addition of a "Standard Range Single Motor" trim, starting at just under 40 million won, which is the brand's first. This is a significant price reduction compared to other models that start in the mid-50 million won range. This trim will be limited to 300 units for sale in the domestic market.

The Standard Range Single Motor trim is equipped with a 69 kWh (kilowatt-hour) NCM (nickel, cobalt, manganese) battery from LG Energy Solution. Compared to the existing Long Range trim, the battery capacity is 11% smaller, while the curb weight (1.9 tons) is also reduced by 5%, achieving an impressive energy efficiency of 5.2 km/kWh. This allows for a generous driving range of 409 km on a single charge. The maximum output is 272 horsepower, with a maximum torque of 50 kg·m.

The exterior design remains the same as before, but changes have been made to the colors and wheel design. Inside, a wider variety of leather colors and center console bezel colors are offered. Heated steering wheel and heated rear seats are now standard features.

While the 2025 Polestar 2 is not eligible for government electric vehicle purchase subsidies, Polestar is providing its own subsidies of 4 million won. The subsidies will be granted regardless of the buyer's region or the purchase trim.

Ham Jong-sung, CEO of Polestar Korea, noted, "The 2025 Polestar 2 maintains the essence of a premium electric vehicle recognized for its design, performance, and safety, while enhancing product competitiveness and price competitiveness so that more customers can experience it."
