Small business owners expressed concern over the SK Telecom USIM hacking incident. They urged SK Telecom to actively respond to prevent secondary damage and noted that they are considering collective lawsuits if the damage spreads.
The Small Business Federation released a statement on the 30th, saying, "The SK Telecom hacking incident can only become a greater blow to small business owners and operators, making concern grow even more." They added, "If small business owners, who are already struggling due to the worst domestic sluggishness, experience hacking damage, they will inevitably fall into a downward spiral in their lives."
They criticized, "SK Telecom was more focused on covering up the incident, and after nearly a week of the hacking, they sent a delayed message and only passively recommended the USIM protection service. As the controversy grew, they hurriedly announced the replacement of USIM, but even that was just a hastily made announcement without sufficient supply."
Small business owners continued, "We strongly urge SK Telecom to mobilize all its capabilities to prevent actual secondary damage," and stated, "If the hacking damage spreads, we will actively establish a 'small business damage reporting center' at the Small Business Federation and take steps such as collective lawsuits."
