With this agreement, Doosan Enerbility will have expanded opportunities to participate in the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and operation of Candu Energy's global heavy water nuclear power plant projects. Currently, a total of 31 'Candu' nuclear power plants are operating in Canada, South Korea, Romania, China, and Argentina. Heavy water refers to a reactor that uses heavy water (D2O) as a coolant.

Candu Energy is a corporation with the original technology for Canada's heavy water 'Candu (CANDU)' and is responsible for related design, supply, and service.

Kim Jong-doo, head of the Nuclear Business Group at Doosan Enerbility, said, "We will ensure participation not only in the improvement of Candu Energy's heavy water nuclear power facilities but also in new nuclear power projects."
