Hyundai Motor Company noted that it actively reflected the opinions of North American customers while creating the New Xcient hydrogen electric truck unveiled this time. The company also conducted vehicle suitability assessments considering the extensive terrain and climatic conditions of the North American region. Improvements were made to the hydrogen fuel cell system to enhance output, and safety features such as forward collision avoidance assist and lane departure warning, which were not present in the existing North American hydrogen electric truck, were added.

Hyundai Motor Company will showcase the improved fuel cell system at ACT 2025 and operate a test drive program targeting local media in North America.

Hyundai Motor Company also revealed its plans for a new energy business platform called HTWO Energy. Initially, it will establish a large commercial vehicle dedicated facility, HTWO Energy Subanner, near the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Ellabell, Georgia, USA. This facility will have the capacity to produce and charge 1,200 kg of hydrogen per day, which is sufficient to charge approximately 17 New Xcient hydrogen electric trucks.

HTWO Energy Subanner is expected to begin full-scale operations in the second half of this year and will operate 24 hours a day. Hyundai Motor Company anticipates that this operation will provide a boost to its clean logistics transport business currently underway in the North American market.

Additionally, Hyundai Motor Company plans to expand its hydrogen business by discovering platforms such as HTWO Energy, a hydrogen-electric integrated charging hub, and HTWO Logistics, an eco-friendly logistics system.
