Samsung SDI announced on the 28th that it will participate in 'InterBattery Europe 2025,' which will be held in Munich, Germany, from May 7 to 9. At this exhibition, Samsung SDI plans to showcase next-generation battery products and innovative technologies under the slogan 'InCelligent Life, Always ON,' which means 'our daily lives upgraded with always connected battery technology.'
Samsung SDI is expected to introduce products centered around battery technology for energy storage systems (ESS) aimed at the artificial intelligence (AI) era. First, Samsung SDI plans to unveil a new battery product called 'U8A1' for uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS). The UPS is an essential system that provides power during outages at facilities such as data centers. Samsung SDI noted, 'U8A1 combines ultra-high output characteristics with high energy density, allowing for optimal efficiency in small spaces,' adding that it is 'a product aimed at the growing AI data centers fueled by the explosive demand for generative AI.'
Samsung SDI will also exhibit the energy storage system (ESS) solution 'SBB (Samsung Battery Box) 1.5.'
SBB is a product that installs battery cells, modules, racks, and more in a 20-foot container. Samsung SDI explained that it boasts advanced safety thanks to the application of the enhanced direct injection (EDI) technology, which is a type of immersion fire suppression technology.
A Samsung SDI official said, 'At this exhibition, we will showcase a portfolio of batteries optimized for various user environments,' adding that 'the ESS batteries from Samsung SDI will offer a glimpse into our daily lives made possible by consolidation.'
