The Renault brand performed well in the global automotive market during the first quarter, selling 389,016 units, an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period last year.
There were two standout models: the "Grand Koleos" and the "Renault 5 E-Tech Electric." The "Grand Koleos" excelled in South Korea, while the "Renault 5 E-Tech Electric" made a strong showing in Europe.
Renault achieved a 3.8% increase compared to the same period last year by selling 246,036 new vehicles in Europe during the first quarter. The sales of electrified vehicles, such as electric cars and hybrids, were particularly notable. Renault's electric vehicle sales in the first quarter increased by 87.9% compared to the same period last year, and hybrid vehicle sales also rose by 46.1% year-on-year.
In particular, the "Renault 5 E-Tech Electric," which won the 2025 European Car of the Year award, recorded sales of over 17,000 units in the first quarter, securing the top spot in sales of small electric vehicles in the European market and driving up Renault's performance.
Growth outside Europe is also notable. Renault recorded sales of 140,659 units outside Europe, an increase of 11.6% compared to the same period last year, signaling the successful establishment of its "International Game Plan." Renault's "International Game Plan" is a strategy to launch a total of eight new models by 2027 based on five global hubs in South Korea, India, Central and South America, Turkey, and Morocco, creating synergy between Europe and non-European regions.
Renault Korea, a key hub of the International Game Plan, sold over 14,000 new vehicles in the first quarter alone, achieving a sales performance increase of 147.6% compared to the same period last year. In particular, the medium SUV "Grand Koleos" recorded sales of 11,341 units in the first quarter of 2025, driving up Renault Korea's performance. The "Grand Koleos," which Renault Korea launched after four years, has sold over 33,000 units by March of this year, contributing to Renault Korea's strong results.
Based on strong performance in Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil, sales in Central and South America reached 63,700 units, an increase of 21.1% compared to the first quarter of the previous year. In Morocco, driven by the success of the small hatchback "CLIO Cosmetics" and the launch of the small SUV "Kardian," it recorded sales of over 9,000 units, representing a performance increase of 45.5% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
Renault plans to continue showcasing new vehicles in the global market throughout 2025. The company will launch the small electric crossover SUV "Renault 4 E-Tech Electric" in Europe and will continuously introduce facelift models of existing key vehicles. Additionally, Renault aims to enhance its global influence by expanding export regions, including a full-scale entry of the "Grand Koleos" into overseas markets.
