The seven-seater family sports utility vehicle (SUV) New Discovery from Land Rover, while sporting an appearance suited for rugged mountain roads, showcased a quiet and smooth ride. As a seven-seater, the interior space was ample, and the design was clean without any excess.

The Discovery is a representative model of the Land Rover brand, alongside the Range Rover and Defender. The Discovery was built based on the top-tier Range Rover launched in 1989. Starting from the first generation, it has been released across five generations over approximately 30 years until 2017. The test vehicle was the New Discovery 2024 model P360 Dynamic HSE trim.

The exterior presents a blend of the Range Rover and Defender. The front features a sleek impression with a compact grille and elongated logo, but the overall line has a strong, angular off-roader feel. The rear, which has a square shape and a slightly shifted license plate to the left, possesses its own uniqueness.

Contrary to its strong exterior, the interior exudes an elegant and calm atmosphere. Land Rover's signature simple design adds a modern touch. The 11.4-inch touchscreen located between the driver and passenger seats, along with the toggle gear, were intuitive and easy to operate.

Thanks to its high body, the front view is spacious, not just in the first row but also when seated in the second and third rows. However, the raised third-row seat, even when there are no passengers or large luggage, partially obstructed the rear view from the rearview mirror. It took some time to get used to the window buttons placed on top of the door, aligned with the seat position.

The cargo space is generous at 2,391 liters (L). Folding down the second and third-row seats completely makes it convenient for leisure activities like camping in the vehicle (car plus accommodation). The storage spaces, such as the glove box (drawer in front of the passenger seat) and the lower box in the center console (between the driver and passenger seats), were useful for storing items like phones, wallets, and drinks.

The vehicle equipped with a gasoline engine experienced almost no vibrations or noise during the drive, allowing both the driver and passengers to enjoy a comfortable ride. Even at speeds exceeding 120 km/h, it maintained stability without significant shaking, although a slight level of wind noise entered.

According to Land Rover, the standard electronic air suspension reduces shocks during driving, providing a smooth ride and enhancing agility when turning corners. The air suspension has the function of adjusting the vehicle's height according to various terrains and driving environments. The New Discovery can raise its body by up to 75 mm and lower it by up to 60 mm.

Weighing over 2.6 tons (t), the vehicle did not slide back even when climbing steep hills, and it maintained speed automatically when descending, enhancing stability. When navigating narrow alleyways or parking, the 3D surround camera displays an image on the screen as if viewing through the hood.

The New Discovery boasts a maximum output of 360 horsepower and a maximum torque of 51 kg·m. The time taken to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (zero to hundred) is 6.5 seconds. The top speed is limited to 209 km/h. The combined certified fuel efficiency is 7.5 km/L (urban 6.8 km, highway 8.5 km).

Prices vary by trim, but the vehicle is priced at approximately 100 million won. The P300 S is priced at 94.2 million won, the D250 S at 99.5 million won, the D300 Dynamic HSE at 119.9 million won, and the P360 Dynamic HSE at 127.6 million won. All prices are based on the standards at the time of the 2024 model's launch, with the 2025 model being about 1 to 2 million won more expensive.
