Hyundai Mobis reported on the 25th that it recorded sales of 14.752 trillion won, operating profit of 776.7 billion won, and net income of 1.0317 trillion won during the first quarter.
Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 6.4% and operating profit rose by 43.1%.
By institutional sector, sales reached 11.4743 trillion won in modules and core parts, and 3.2778 trillion won in the A/S sector. Sales of modules and core parts increased by 4.9% compared to the first quarter of last year due to the expansion of high-value-added core parts in the electronic components segment. Sales in the A/S field also grew by 11.8% compared to the same period last year, thanks to sustained global demand and favorable exchange rates.
Operating profit in the first quarter of this year increased significantly. Hyundai Mobis reported that operating profit reached 776.7 billion won, a 43% increase compared to the same period last year. Although fixed costs related to electrification have increased, the supply of high-value-added core parts centered around electronic components has been effective. Additionally, the A/S business responded stably to global demand, and a favorable exchange rate environment contributed to substantial growth in operating profit. Thanks to the increase in operating profit, the profit margin has also shown signs of recovery. Hyundai Mobis' operating profit margin in the first quarter of this year improved to 5.3%, up from 3.9% in the first quarter of last year.
Overseas orders are also progressing smoothly. Hyundai Mobis achieved orders worth $2.08 billion for core components from global complete car manufacturers in the first quarter of this year. This accounts for nearly 30% of the total overseas order target for the year ($7.44 billion). Hyundai Mobis has actively engaged in sales activities targeting global complete car manufacturers, participating in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, the world's largest technology exhibition, in January, as well as the Shanghai Motor Show, which opened on the 23rd.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Mobis plans to invest over 2 trillion won in research and development this year to secure future competitiveness through leading technology development. As of the first quarter, there are about 7,700 research and development personnel domestically and abroad, and Hyundai Mobis plans to concentrate all its resources on securing innovative mobility technologies through talented individuals.
