Volkswagen Korea will begin customer deliveries of the Coupe-style pure electric SUV "ID.5" in May, following the best-selling electric vehicle ID.4.
The ID.4, Volkswagen Korea's first electric vehicle, has been well-received since its domestic launch in 2022, recording the highest sales of European brand electric vehicles in the Korean market last year and achieving first place in European brand electric vehicle sales in the first quarter of this year.
"ID.5" is the second pure electric model from Volkswagen Korea, following the best-selling pure electric SUV, ID.4, which recorded the highest sales of a single European electric vehicle model in the first quarter of this year. The official selling price is 60.99 million won (after tax benefits, including value-added tax), with a government subsidy of 2.15 million won allocated. In addition, Volkswagen Korea will provide additional special purchase subsidies of about 2 million won to customers receiving the ID.5 delivery. (Ends when exhausted)
Accordingly, the ID.5, with an official selling price of 60.99 million won, can be purchased for around 45 million won when applying all government subsidies, local subsidies, special purchase subsidies, and Volkswagen purchase benefits. (*Based on Seoul; varies by local government)
With the official delivery of the ID.5 starting in May and the domestic arrival and delivery of the best-selling electric vehicle ID.4 scheduled for the end of next month, Volkswagen Korea plans to solidify its leadership in imported electric vehicles this year with the dual strategy of the ID.4 and ID.5.
The ID.5 boasts an excellent level of completion, equipped with proven performance and outstanding efficiency characteristic of Volkswagen's electric SUVs, a beautiful coupe-style design, and advanced safety and convenience specifications.
The stylish appeal unique to the ID.5 is evident throughout its exterior. The elegant curve that extends from the front of the body to the back and the short front overhang emphasize the sporty coupe style. In particular, the streamlined coupe roof line and rear spoiler maximize aerodynamic performance, achieving an impressive low coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.26.
The front bumper features a 3D honeycomb design, while the winglet design that wraps around the front enhances its striking image. The harmony between the panoramic glass roof and black roof, along with the door panels finished in body color, emphasizes the urban appeal unique to the ID.5.
Thanks to the innovative design of Volkswagen's electric vehicle-specific MEB platform, space utilization is also improved. With a wheelbase of 2,765mm, it offers ample headroom and legroom for enhanced livability, while the trunk capacity reaches 549 liters and expands to 1,561 liters when the second-row seats are folded, providing generous cargo space for recreational activities or everyday trunk usage.
The ID.5 is equipped with Volkswagen's latest powerful and efficient drive system. It features a strong permanent magnet rotor, an improved stator, and a new inverter that provides high-output current, achieving a maximum output of 286 horsepower (PS) and maximum torque of 55.6 kg.m, with a powerful performance that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.
Thanks to its powerful yet efficient drive system and aerodynamic design, the ID.5 boasts a long driving range and high energy efficiency. The range on a single charge is a combined 434 km (460 km in the city / 402 km on the highway), with the government-certified energy consumption efficiency at a combined 5.0 km/kWh (5.3 km/kWh in the city / 4.6 km/kWh on the highway).
Equipped with a high-efficiency high-voltage battery with a capacity of 82.836 kWh, it supports fast charging of up to 175 kW. Using fast charging, it is possible to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes. Additionally, a "battery heater" feature is applied to optimize the charging speed regardless of the surrounding environment and temperature.
The interior features an intuitive and convenient driver-friendly configuration.
The centrally located "12.9-inch Discover Max" infotainment system provides intuitive operation and personalization as well as fast response to commands. The "illuminated touch slider" located at the bottom of the display allows convenient operation of infotainment functions even at night. The advanced voice assistant "IDA," capable of naturally controlling the vehicle's media, climate, and driving settings by voice as if conversing with a person, along with the "wireless app connect" feature allowing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities without cable connections, enhance convenience.
Volkswagen's advanced safety features are generously equipped. The advanced driving assistance feature "IQ. Drive" helps maintain speed and lane while considering the distance from the vehicle in front across all driving speed ranges, including features like "Travel Assist", "Adaptive Cruise Control", "Lane Assist", "Side Assist", and "Rear Traffic Alert System", as well as "Front Assist," which stops driving and alerts the driver in emergencies when there is no response for a certain period of time. The intelligent interactive lighting system "IQ. Light: LED Matrix Headlamps" is also equipped to offer optimal visibility in dark conditions.
The ID.5 is equipped with preferred specifications for Korean customers, including front seats with memory, massage, and heating functions; a "3-Zone Climatronic Automatic Air Conditioning" system; an "Electric Power Trunk" with easy open & close; a "Panoramic Glass Roof"; and "30-Color Ambient Light".
