Korean Air participated in the bidding by forming a consortium with LIG Nex1 and Collins Aerospace. The scale of the UH-60 performance improvement project is approximately 961.3 billion won.

The UH-60 is a multi-purpose helicopter performing special operations in the Army and Air Force, known as the Black Hawk. This project will involve performance enhancements across the entire range, including the digitalization of cockpits for a total of 36 UH-60 units, engine upgrades, survival equipment, communication equipment, integrated maintenance, and modernization support elements.

Korean Air produced over 130 UH-60 units from 1991 to 1999, powering them for service. The company is currently performing maintenance, partial performance upgrades, and modifications.

Korean Air plans to finalize the contract after negotiating details such as technology and conditions with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. It aims to deliver the aircraft to the military starting in 2029.
