Kia has been selected as the World Car of the Year a total of three times. The first award was won by the large SUV Telluride, which was launched as a strategic model in the United States in 2020. The Telluride was the first Korean brand to receive this award.
EV3 is a strategic model that Kia introduced for the popularization of electric vehicles. It features a practical design, and the driving range on a single charge for the long-range model is 501 km according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy certification standards and 605 km according to European WLTP standards.
The World Car Awards, which began in 2004, are considered one of the top three automobile awards globally, along with the 'North American Car of the Year' (NACTOY) and 'European Car of the Year' (COTY). A jury of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries including the United States, Europe, Japan, China, and Korea participates in selecting the car of the year for each institutional sector.
