The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a 'Copyright Protection Campaign' from the 17th to the 30th to celebrate 'World Book and Copyright Day.'
'World Book and Copyright Day' is a day established at the UNESCO General Conference in 1995 to promote the importance of books and copyrights.
During the campaign period, various online and offline events will be held, including ▲talk concerts featuring famous authors and ▲a contest to raise awareness about copyright, aimed at boosting public interest in respecting and protecting copyrights. A campaign declaration ceremony will also be held on the 23rd, which is 'World Book and Copyright Day.'
First, a 'Copyright Talk Concert' will take place, allowing creators and citizens to meet directly.
On the 23rd, author Lee Seul-ah will give a lecture at the Seoul Library on the theme of 'Daily Lee Seul-ah and Copyright.' On the 26th, storytelling for families and a 'Book Talk Concert' will take place at the National Copyright Museum.
A contest will also be held. A total of 18 excellent works will be selected to receive the Prime Minister's Award and the Minister's Award in November, as well as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Special Award and the Korean Copyright Commission Chairperson's Award, along with a total prize of 10.1 million won.
Jung Hyang-mi, Director of the Copyright Bureau at the Ministry of Culture, noted, 'This campaign is an important opportunity to spread a culture of love for books and respect for copyrights,' and expressed hope that many citizens will reflect on the value of copyright and join in protecting it.
