Hyundai Rotem announced on the 8th that it has established solar power generation facilities on the roof of the Quality Safety Center building at its Changwon plant and has begun producing renewable energy. Hyundai Steel plans to produce approximately 115 MWh per year to replace some of the electricity previously used at the existing plant.

The establishment of renewable energy facilities will expand from the Changwon plant to all domestic and overseas business sites. Solar power generation facilities are also scheduled to be installed within the year at Hyundai Rotem Smart Electric America (HRSEA), a manufacturer of electric components for railroads in the United States.

A Hyundai Rotem official noted that "considering the renewable energy-related market, policies, technologies, etc., we will accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and achieve 100% renewable energy conversion at all business sites by 2040."
