Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 8th that it signed a contract worth 402.6 billion won to supply components for self-propelled artillery with the Polish state defense company "Huta Stalowa Wola" on the 7th (local time). Under this contract, Hanwha Aerospace will supply components for the chassis of Poland's self-propelled artillery "KRAB." After its first contract in 2014, when it supplied components for 120 units of the KRAB, Hanwha Aerospace delivered 364 units of the K9 self-propelled artillery in 2022 and 2023.
The localized strategy is also underway in areas beyond the existing K9 self-propelled artillery, multiple rocket launcher "Cheonmu," and KRAB chassis components. In addition to maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) for existing supply products, the company plans to present the independently developed infantry fighting vehicle "Redback" in a localized format for Poland's "heavy armored infantry fighting vehicle" project. It will also participate in the bid for the "Orca Project," a submarine program estimated at 8 trillion won for naval modernization.
Son Jae-il, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, noted, "This contract allows us to respond to the blockization of the defense industry in Europe while contributing to mutual growth with domestic defense partners."
